During the tube era Moving Coil cartridges were not very common. So there are only very few input transformers which were designed in purpose to use them for MC cartridges. But a lot of microphone or foto cell transformers work the same way and have perfectly matching characteristics, so that they can be easily be used for Moving Coil cartridges.

  I some instances it may be necessary or better to match the input of the transformer to the cartridge by some resistors in order to adapt the impedance.
