(what tube amplifiers are also good for...)

  As my neighbour's son killed my projector's power supply, I tried to get data from ASK (represented by InFocus) or a circuit diagram in order to repair it. Unfortunately I was told that they cannot (do want to ...) help me.

  This way I did some investigation inside the unit and found out that the first stage of the switching power supply transforms lines voltage into 390V DC. 390V DC!!! This is pretty much. But this is well inside my personal voltage range.... 3 hours later the power supply was built up: Siemens power transformer from 6SELA 2600 amp + some additional parts.

  Keeping in mind that the lamp needs 120 watts and that there are 3 other voltages derived from the 390 volts, I parallelled the secondary windings of the 6SELA power transformer as about 0.5A will be needed.

Comparing the power supply sections:

  The original unit is much smaller and weighs about 200g.

  The Siemens power supply is bigger and weighs more than 8kgs.

  I think the days my projector was portable are counted...
